2009 Season Closed

Top 25 Weekly Challenge

Description: The Top 25 Weekly Challenge will test college football fans' ability to predict games on a weekly basis.  The Top 25 contest will comprise of ten selected match-ups that pit at least one team from the current AP Top 25 Poll.  See how you fair against other fans throughout the entire season or just play when you feel like it for a chance to win the prize.  Just like in college football, your record will determine your success.

How To Play: Click the NCAA football logo above to enter the contest and follow the on screen instruction. Those instructions are as follows.  Select which team you think will win each game by selecting the option button next to that team.  Enter in a Confidence Value, from 1-10, in the box between each of the teams. This value represents how confident you are that the team you picked will win. Each number may only be used once so you are basically ranking each pick from your most to least confident. 10=most confident. 1=least confident. For the 10th and final game, enter a margin of victory for your winner of the game.

Each participant may submit up to one entry per contest and only two participants per IP address are permitted.  Your latest entry will always overwrite any previous entry.

Scoring: Scoring will be based on your win-loss record for that week of games.  The games you pick correctly will add the confidence points you assigned to them.  Any games picked incorrectly will forfeit assigned confidence points for that game.  Your record and points will accumulate throughout the season.  You may view your updated record, points and standings among other participants following each weekend of games.  These cumulative standings are for the end of season prize to be given out to the top-ranked participant at the end of the season.  The standings will be located under Standings > Top 25 Challenge on the main menu when available.  These standings rank you among others based on a CFBPredictors rating.  The CFBP rating is simply your winning percentage multiplied by your total points.  For example, if a participant has a record of 30-10(0.750) with 145 points at a given time during the season, his CFBP rating will be calculated as 145 x 0.750 = 108.75.  This gives a natural advantage to those who play more weeks because they will accumulate more points.

Deadline to Play: Every Saturday at Noon ET.  There will be two exceptions to this. One exception will be on Thanksgiving weekend where the deadline will be on Thursday.  The exact time will be announced here and in the forums.  There could be a second exception the last weekend of the regular season so check here and in the forums for details that week. The entry form will lock and become inaccessible at exactly 12PM ET so be sure to make your picks before that time or you will not be able to play that week.

Prizes: There will be a weekly $10 prize awarded to the 14 contest winners during the 2009 season.  There will also be an end of season prize of $40 awarded to the top-ranked participant in the season standings after the final week of the regular season is complete. In addition, CFBPoints will be awarded to the top ten finishers each week and the final season standings. See the table below for specific point values to be awarded.

To be eligible for the end of season prize that goes to the best CFBP rating, you must play a minimum of 75% of the contest's games.  Meaning, the minimum participation requirement to be eligible for the end of season prize is 105 games or approximately 11 of 14 weeks/contests.

Any ties will split cash prizes between the winners.  All cash prizes will be sent via PayPal to the email address registered on this site.  If you do not have a PayPal account, you will receive an email upon winning a contest, with easy instructions for creating a PayPal account.
